Following the report of the Special Visitation Panel to the University of Lagos, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reinstatement of Oluwatoyin Ogundipe as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG).

In a statement released on Wednesday by Ben-Bem Goong, the Ministry of Education’s Director Press and Public Relations, the report of the panel recommended as follows: that the suspension of Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe did not follow a due process; that the Vice-Chancellor was not given an opportunity to defend himself against the allegations upon which he was removed; that all the allegations leveled against the Vice-Chancellor and the Governing Council should be referred to the regular Visitation Panel for further investigation; that the process through which Prof. Omololu Soyombo was appointed as Acting VC was inconsistent with the law relating to the appointment of an Acting Vice-Chancellor; that the Governing Council that is working with the Acting VC be dissolved with immediate effect.
