More than 400 participants representing 24 countries are expected to attend this year’s MoodleMoot Africa, scheduled to take place from Wednesday, October 8 to Friday, October 10, 2025, in Abuja.

The international conference, which will be hosted by the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in partnership with Moodle and the MoodleMoot Africa Association, will be declared open by the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa.

Themed “Leveraging the Power of Disruptive Technologies for Africa’s Educational Transformation,” the conference will bring together educators, researchers, policymakers, technology experts, and innovators to explore the future of digital learning across the continent.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Friday, Vice-Chancellor of NOUN, Prof. Olufemi Peters, said sessions will highlight emerging trends in Artificial Intelligence (AI), open educational resources, learning analytics, and edtech-driven pedagogies tailored to Africa’s unique needs.

The don noted that the workshops, panel discussions, and networking sessions will serve as avenues to exchange best practices, forge partnerships, and highlight impactful projects that show how technology can broaden access, enhance quality, and promote inclusivity in education.

He said Mathabo Nakene, Founder, MoodleMoot Africa Association, and Professor Puleng LenkaBula, Principal and Vice-Chancellor, University of South Africa, will be the keynote and lead speakers respectively.

Prof. Peters said the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani, his Federal Capital Territory (FCT) counterpart, Nyesom Wike, and other top government officials are also expected to attend.

According to the V-C, MoodleMoot Africa 2025 is expected to serve as a catalyst for collaboration, policy dialogue, and investment in technology-enabled learning, positioning Africa as a key player in the global edtech ecosystem.

He said delegates from several global universities, including the University of South Africa, Open University of Tanzania, Namibian University of Science and Technology, and the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), will attend the programme.
