On Thursday, May 28, 2020, the US president Donald Trump signs into law the Never Again Education Act, which will further expand the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum’s (USHMM) education programming to teachers nationwide, Jewish News Syndicate reported. The law will require the museum to develop and disseminate resources to improve awareness and understanding of the Holocaust and its lessons, which claimed 11 million people, 6 million of whom were Jews.

The Holocaust Education will be monitored by the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council. Whereas private donations for the funding of the program are encouraged, for this year and the each of the next four years the United States shall allocate 2 million dollars to the programme.

Part of steps taken to ensure the success of the programme is to create an online Holocaust-education repository of resources for educators to teach both middle-school and high school students about the holocaust.

Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.), who introduced the U.S. House of Representatives bill with Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) noted that the purpose of the Never Again Education is to teach the younger generation about the dangers of anti-Semitism and hate. She pointed out that such education is “a proactive way to stop anti-Semitism before it even starts.”

“I’m proud our country has come together to make clear that anti-Semitism cannot and should not be tolerated.” Rep. Carolyn Maloney further noted excitedly.
