ICAN Online Tutors Expands Access for Aspiring Female Accountants

ICAN Online Tutors (IOT Academy Limited) has become one of Africa’s largest tuition providers for professional accounting students, supporting candidates across the continent in preparing for globally recognised certifications, including ICAN, ACCA, and CISA.

Established less than five years ago, the academy has grown by offering structured, flexible, and exam-focused learning programmes. These are delivered through live interactive classes, recorded video lessons, and mobile apps, allowing students to learn at their convenience.

A key area of impact has been the academy’s support for women who are balancing family responsibilities, work commitments, and personal development goals. According to the Founder and CEO, Rilwan Teslim-Layeni, IOT Academy Limited has made it possible for more women to access professional education without needing to attend weekend classes physically.

“For many women, attending physical weekend classes is simply not an option. That’s where we step in—to provide flexibility without compromising quality,” Teslim-Layeni said. “We’re proud to see so many of our female students achieve their professional accounting dreams despite difficult schedules.”

Looking ahead, the academy plans to expand its offerings beyond accounting. It will introduce a set of new qualification and skill-based courses aimed at strengthening students’ digital and professional competencies.

The upcoming courses will cover practical areas such as Microsoft Excel (Basic to Advanced), QuickBooks, Data Analytics, and Business Analysis. These new offerings are intended to equip both current students and alumni with additional capabilities that are increasingly important in the evolving finance landscape.

This strategic shift reflects the growing need for accountants and finance professionals to acquire skills that align with technology trends and workplace demands.

With this expansion, IOT Academy Limited aims to become a broader centre for professional development, offering a mix of accounting, business, and technology training to support career progression and lifelong learning.
