Kucheza Gaming and partners have concluded its Teachers’ Ingenuity Day – an innovative training programme designed to introduce Lagos State public school educators to game-based learning.

The hands-on, interactive curriculum equips teachers with tools to make STEM education more accessible and engaging for students regardless of technological resources.

Executed in collaboration with Ukie Digital Schoolhouse and Nintendo UK, with the French Embassy as sponsor, the initiative empowered 36 teachers from 24 schools in the Lagos District IV with creative and pedagogical approaches to teaching computing concepts.

The programme focused on the Playful Computing Curriculum, which is an award-winning, unplugged programme that teaches computational thinking without requiring immediate access to a computer.

Kucheza Gaming’ Impact as Service Lead, Gbenga Folorunsho, described teachers as the catalysts for educational transformation. According to him, “by embracing game-based learning and digital literacy, we are equipping our teachers with the essential tools to prepare students for a technology-driven future.

“We are also grateful for the support of the French Embassy in Nigeria; which sponsorship has been pivotal in making this initiative a reality.”

Among the highlights was the introduction of the Kucheza Teachers Track, which is a long-term initiative offering continuous professional development through mentorship, resources, and specialized workshops.

This programme aims to sustain teacher growth and foster the integration of digital literacy into everyday classroom practices, Folorunsho said.

Meanwhile, selected teachers will be empowered to kick-start the Playful Computing workshops in their respective schools as a way of bringing game-based learning directly to students.

On its part, the French Embassy said it was proud to support the school playful computing programme, describing it as a creative initiative that combines education and play. The embassy said it was particularly interesting to encourage young people to learn computing concepts through video games.

With the success of the ingenuity day, Kucheza Gaming said it would continue showcasing career pathways and fostering future-ready skills through play.

It added that by equipping teachers with practical skills and international collaborations, the initiative marks a significant step toward preparing Nigerian youth for a digital future.
