The Federal Ministry of Education has launched the nationwide rollout of the Inspire Live(s)! Online Real-Time Classes Initiative, a step aimed at expanding equitable access to quality education for every Nigerian child.
The programme is designed to address the persistent shortage of qualified teachers while ensuring uninterrupted learning across the country.
In a statement signed by Folasade Boriowo, Director of Press & Public Relations, the Ministry described the initiative as transformative, noting that it deploys technology to democratise learning by delivering live, interactive lessons directly to learners, regardless of their location or circumstance.
Maruf Tunji Alausa, Minister of Education, confirmed that full implementation is already underway, with plans to scale up the platform to cover all classes from Primary 1 to Senior Secondary 3.
At present, the Inspire platform streams daily online classes for Junior and Senior Secondary Schools, featuring JSS 1, JSS 2 and SS 2 lessons. The virtual classes run Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and are delivered by certified master teachers using the Cisco Webex platform.
Subjects available for JSS learners include Basic Science, Mathematics, English Language, ICT, Agricultural Science, Basic Technology, Civic Education, French, Physical Education, Religious Studies, History and Business Studies.
Senior Secondary School students have access to Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, English Language, Economics, Geography, Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing/Catering Craft, Civic Education and Automobile Mechanics.
To ensure seamless nationwide rollout, the Ministry has directed all Commissioners of Education to nominate State Focal Officers to coordinate Inspire Live(s)! activities, circulate programme details to both public and private schools, ensure designated schools are equipped with basic ICT facilities and internet connectivity, and oversee registration to be carried out strictly by school principals via the Inspire support channels.
The Ministry emphasised that the real-time online classes are open to all public and private schools nationwide.
Describing the programme as another Renewed Hope in action, the Ministry urged schools and stakeholders seeking to participate or request further details to visit inspire.education.gov.ng or contact designated Desk Officers
