The federal government has stated that schools will reopen on Monday, August 3, 2020 for junior secondary school 3 (JSS3) students, to enable them prepare for NECO Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) that is due to commence on August 24, 2020.  This clarification was made on Thursday by the Director, Press and Public Relations of the Ministry, Ben Bem Goong.

According to Mr. Goong, the resuming students are also expected to pay their third term school fees, if they have not done so yet.

On Wednesday the federal Ministry of Education, after a long deliberation with the Chief Executives of examination bodies and other stakeholders released a detailed timetable for national examinations conducted by WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, others. The various exams will span from August 17 to November 18, 2020.
