The Federal Ministry of Education has on Wednesday released a detailed schedule for national examinations wherein exit students are expected to participate. The various exams will span from August 17 to November 18, 2020.

The Hon. Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajuiba, during a briefing after a long meeting with Chief Executives of the examination bodies, said the West African Examinations Council, (WAEC-SSCE) will start on the August 17, 2020, while  theNational Business and Technical Examination Board, (NABTEB) examinations will start on the  September 21 and end on October 15, 2020. 

Based on the new schedule, NECO Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSCE) will start on October 5 and end on November 18, 2020.  

Also NECO Basic Education Certificate Examinations, (BECE) for JSS 3 will start on August 24 and end on September 7, 2020.

The National Common Entrance Examination, (NCEE) into Unity Colleges (JSS1) will be held by NECO on Saturday, 17th October, 2020.  While taking their wards to the examination centers, parents are expected to take with them face masks and alcohol based hand sanitizers for their wards.   

Meanwhile, the ongoing registration for NECO (SSCE) will end on September 10, 2020. The registration will not be extended. 

It is also noteworthy that the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) examination will begin on September 23 and end on October 17, 2020.

The Minister has directed all examination bodies to release details of their examination timetables within one week.

According to the press release by the Director, Press and Public Relations of the Ministry, Ben Bem Goong, the following were present at the meeting headed by the Honourable Minister of State for Education, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Arc. Sonny Echono, Registrar, Joint Admissions Matriculations Board, (JAMB), Prof.  Is-haq Oloyede; Registar, National Examinations Council, (NECO), Prof. Godswill Obioma; Registrar, National Business and Technical Examination Board, (NABTEB) Prof. Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanihe; National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies, (NBAIS) Dr. Raji as well as the Acting Registrar of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Dr. J.O. Oke.
