The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved 26 new academic programmes for the Federal University Dutse in Jigawa state with effect from 2025/2026 academic session.
This was contained in a press statement issued signed and made available to Online Tribune in Dutse, the Director Public Affairs of the university, Mr Abdullahi Yahaya Bello, said the approval was contained in a letter signed by the Acting Director of Academic Planning of the Commission, Abubakar Girei and addressed to the Vice-Chancellor Chancellor, Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Muhammed.
According to the statement, the NUC verification teams for the programmes were at the university to verify the human and material resources available for the establishment of the programmes a few months ago.
The director of public affairs said the newly approved programmes are .B.Sc Food Science and Technology, B.A. Arabic, B.Sc Industrial Chemistry, B.Sc Industrial Mathematics, Ph.D Chemistry and Ph.D Mathematics
Mr Bello maintained others programmes includes PGD, M.Sc and Ph.D Fisheries and Aquaculture, MFA, Master Fisheries and Aquaculture, PGD, M.Sc and Ph.D Environmental Management and Toxicology, PGD, M.Sc, Ph.D Human Anatomy, PGD, M.Sc, Ph.D Human Physiology and PGD, M.Sc, Ph.D Soil Science
He added that “Ph.D Crop Science, Ph.D Animal Science, Ph.D Animal Production, PGD,M.Sc,Ph.D Management, MBA, Master in Business Administration, PGD, M.Sc, Ph.D Taxation, Master in Taxation and Fiscal Policy and Ph.D English.
“There is also PGD Civil Society in Development (PGDCSD), Master of Civil Society in Development (MCSD), Ph.D Political Science, Ph.D Criminology and Security Studies, Master in Criminal Justice and Security Administration and PGD, M.Sc and Ph.D Biochemistry”
The statement further stated that the VC thanked the NUC for the approval to mount the programmes while congratulating the Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance and the various departments for a job well done.
He called in them to maintain the high standard set by the university in running the new programmes.
