The Nigerian Government has partnered with Coursera to launch the Digital Training Academy (DTA), an initiative aimed at equipping 36,000 Nigerian youths with globally recognised digital certifications and technology skills.
The programme was announced by the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, through his official X account following engagements at the Education World Forum 2026 in London.
According to the minister, the initiative forms part of the Federal Government’s broader strategy to expand digital education, strengthen youth employability and prepare Nigerians for opportunities within the global digital economy.
The Digital Training Academy will focus on high-demand technology fields including Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing and Software Engineering.
The government said participants would receive globally recognised certifications designed to improve their competitiveness in both local and international job markets.
Alausa noted that the programme aligns with ongoing efforts to bridge Nigeria’s digital skills gap while positioning young Nigerians to take advantage of emerging opportunities in the technology sector.
The initiative is also expected to support the development of a technology-driven workforce capable of contributing to innovation, entrepreneurship and economic growth across the country.
