In a remarkable show of compassion and commitment to students’ welfare, the former President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Senate, Akinteye Babatunde Afeez (BABTEE), at the weekend, launched BAKITARIAN Campus Food Support (BCFS) initiative.
The food support initiative debuts at the College of Health Technology, Akure (CHTA).
The outreach, which was held in honor of Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo (BTO), the Minister of Interior, was conceived as a gesture of gratitude and recognition for his outstanding contributions to public service and humanity.
According to Akinteye, the BCFS project was “birthed out of the undying will to make humanity better and to celebrate a man who has redefined public service through innovation and compassion.”
During the outreach, over 200 packs of noodles were distributed to students through the Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the institution.
The initiative, Akinteye noted, was aimed at providing immediate relief and a demonstration of tangible care for students, particularly those facing economic challenges.
He described Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo as a “distinct public administrator who has redefined and rejuvenated the Ministry of Interior beyond imagination,” adding that the programme was organised to “honour BTO’s unique, unmatched, and unprecedented achievements, as well as his generosity and enduring service to humanity.”
Akinteye emphasised that the BAKITARIAN Campus Food Support marked the beginning of a long-term effort to give back to society and uplift Nigerian students.
“Our resolve remains firm to continue championing causes that uplift lives and inspire positive change. This is only the beginning of something extraordinary,” he stated.
He further advised Nigerian students to remain focused on their education despite economic hardship, reminding them that academic excellence remains a powerful tool for personal and national development.
“Education is the greatest empowerment tool. No matter the challenges, stay focused, stay committed, and never lose sight of your goals,” Akinteye charged the students.
The BAKITARIAN Campus Food Support (BCFS) initiative is expected to tour more campuses across the country in the coming months as part of a sustained effort to promote humanitarian service and inspire student-driven social responsibility.
