The Federal Government College (Senior) Lagos, has emerged winner of the 2025 Bible Quiz Competition for the visually impaired organised by the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN).

Newsmedia reports that the competition, held at the Salvation Army School, Onipanu, featured five participating schools drawn from across the state.

At the end of the keenly contested exercise, Federal Government College (senior) scored 80 points to clinch the first position, while Bethesda School for the Blind came second with 70 points.

King’s College (Junior) secured the third position with 55 points.

Other participating schools included Federal Government College (Junior) and Pacelli School for the Blind.

In his welcome address, the General Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of BSN, Pastor Samuel Sanusi, represented by Mr. Lucky Ogwu, Church and Public Relations Manager, said the competition was part of the Society’s efforts to promote moral development and Bible knowledge among young people.

Sanusi said the programme also sought to foster inclusivity, encourage teamwork, and build confidence among students with diverse abilities.

He reaffirmed the Society’s commitment to making the Word of God available and accessible to all Nigerians, regardless of language, disability, or social background.

“The Bible Society of Nigeria exists to make the Word of God available and affordable in languages and formats that every Nigerian can understand.

“Beyond providing the Bible, we engage people through programmes like this to help them interact with the Word and live transformed lives,” Sanusi said.

He noted that BSN has translated the Bible into 27 Nigerian languages and is currently working on producing sign language and Braille versions to reach the deaf and visually impaired communities.

The Chairman of the occasion, Mr. John Yekini, a retired educator and former Vice Principal of the Pacelli School for the Blind, urged students not to see disability as a limitation but as an opportunity to prove God’s power in their lives.

“There is nothing impossible for God to do. If He could make me succeed despite my visual impairment, He can do even greater things through you,” Yekini said.

He commended the Bible Society of Nigeria and the Salvation Army for sustaining programmes that inspire hope and nurture talent among young people.

Newsmedia reports that the winners went home with 50 thousand naira cash each, plaque, white cane and school bags, while the send and third positions went home with 35 thousand naira and 25 thousand naira respectively, in addition to plaques, school bags and white cane.
