Insurance firm emPLE Nigeria and Ecobank Nigeria have intensified efforts to promote financial literacy and insurance awareness among children, urging parents to introduce their wards to saving, financial planning and risk protection from an early age.

The partners made the call through the Protecting Little Dreams Initiative, a Children’s Day campaign designed to encourage conversations on financial responsibility within families while reinforcing the importance of securing children’s financial futures.

Managing Director of emPLE Life Assurance Limited, Jolaolu Fakoya, said the initiative aligns with the company’s strategy to deepen insurance penetration by making insurance more accessible, easier to understand and relevant to everyday Nigerians. According to him, exposing children to financial education early would help build a generation that appreciates the value of long-term financial planning and insurance protection.

Fakoya said the campaign challenged children and their parents to share videos highlighting the most meaningful things parents had done for them, creating opportunities for families to discuss the importance of protecting future aspirations through deliberate financial planning. He noted that families also received the emPLE Term Life Plan as part of the initiative.

Head of Bancassurance at emPLE Nigeria, Aderonke Smith, said the partnership with Ecobank was aimed at helping families appreciate that financial security begins with intentional planning. She added that combining financial education with accessible insurance solutions would empower parents to make informed decisions that safeguard their children’s future.

The campaign culminated in an award ceremony at Ecobank’s Lagos headquarters, where five families shared N1.2 million in prize money, with the overall winner receiving ₦500,000, as both organisations reaffirmed their commitment to advancing financial inclusion through education and accessible insurance solutions.
