In a protest for salary increment, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU) of the Lagos State University (LASU) on Monday locked out the university Vice Chancellor and the students returning for studies after the state government reopened tertiary institutions on September 14.

Every attempt by the Vice Chancellor to appease the protesting unions yielded no result, as they requested that the governor keep the promise he made to them a year ago to increase their salaries.
