ASUU: FG Excludes Varsity Teachers From IPPIS, Promises To Pay Outstanding Salaries

In what looks like an end to the feud between the federal government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, following a 7-hour negotiation on Friday, the federal government has agreed to remove the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) from the IPPIS platform and returned to the old salary payment GIFMIS platform.

The academic staff will be paid their outstanding salaries from February to June 2020 using the GIFMIS platform.

The federal government, represented by the  Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, also agreed to increase the Earned Academic Allowances to university staff from N30 billion to N35 billion and Revitalization Fund from N20 billion to N25 billion

Satisfied by the agreement, the president of ASUU, Biodun Ogunyemi, promised to report the agreement reached in the meeting to his colleagues.
