Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board (ZSUBEB), under the leadership of its Executive Chairman, Professor Nasir Garba Anka, in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), has commenced a four-day training program on Pedagogical ICT Integration, to strengthen technology-assisted teaching and learning in basic education schools across Zamfara State.

The training, ongoing at Government Girls Arabic Secondary School, Gusau, is designed to equip education personnel with the practical knowledge and skills required to integrate Information and Communication Technology (ICT) effectively into classroom teaching and learning.

The programme brings together 65 participants, comprising 10 State ICT Officers, 50 ICT Instructors, and five Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) Desk Officers.

According to the Executive chairman of the Board, Professor Nasiru Garba Anka, the participants are expected to acquire relevant skills to support digital learning and improve instructional delivery in basic education schools across the State.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Executive Chairman, who was represented by the Director of Data, Digital Platform and Analytics (DDPA), Dalhatu Muhammad Jangebe, emphasised the importance of moving beyond the provision of digital facilities to ensuring their effective utilisation in classrooms.

He noted that technology should serve as a valuable tool for making lessons more engaging, interactive, and effective, thereby improving pupils’ participation, understanding, and academic performance.

“The training covers key areas such as technology-based lesson planning, the development of digital teaching aids, the management of limited instructional resources, and effective device-sharing strategies. These areas are intended to help participants maximise available ICT facilities and promote the effective use of technology in teaching and learning’, he added.

The representative of the Executive Chairman encouraged participants to take full advantage of the training, actively engage in practical sessions, share experiences, and apply the knowledge gained in their respective areas of responsibility.

He further urged them to support other teachers in adopting technology-assisted teaching methods to enhance the quality of basic education in Zamfara State.

The Board appreciated the continued support of UBEC and other education stakeholders in promoting digital transformation and capacity development within the basic education sector, it also commended the facilitators for their commitment to strengthening ICT integration in schools.

The four-day training is scheduled to end on Thursday, 15th October, 2026.

The initiative forms part of ZSUBEB’s continued efforts to improve teaching standards, strengthen the capacity of education personnel, and promoting innovative approaches to learning across Zamfara State.
