The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the commencement of Computer-Based Tests (CBT) for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates – Second Series.

The CBT exams will begin on Friday, October 25, and run until Friday, December 20, 2024.

In a press release on Tuesday, WAEC revealed that this year’s examination will adopt a hybrid format, combining digital and traditional methods.

“Objective or multiple-choice questions will be displayed on-screen, and candidates will respond on-screen.

However, for essay and practical questions, responses must be written in provided answer booklets,” WAEC explained.

WAEC also announced an extension to the registration deadline, which will now close on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

To accommodate candidates who may need more time, WAEC introduced the “Walk-in-Candidate” option.

This new feature allows students to register just 24 hours before their chosen exam, providing flexibility for last-minute preparations.

“The final timetable for the exam is available on the WAEC Nigeria website,” WAEC informed, encouraging candidates to check the schedule for their specific subjects.

WAEC urged candidates to utilise the available online study resources. “We advise all candidates to sign up on the WAEC e-Study platform, purchase WAEC Past Questions and Answers, and interact with peers on the WAECKonnect platform,” the statement added.

Concluding the press release, WAEC expressed its commitment to continuous technological innovation.

“WAEC will continue to deploy technological advancements to make its services more accessible,” the Council affirmed, wishing all candidates success in their exams.
