The Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka has elected new Deputy Vice-Chancellors for Academic and Administration.
Prof. Alex Chinwuba Asigbo of the Department of Theatre Arts and Film Studies was elected as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), while Prof. Hilda Osisioma of the Department of Business Administration was elected Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration).
The elections were conducted during the 242nd meeting of the University Senate held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at the Zephaniah Madubuko Auditorium, Faculty of Social Sciences.
The occasion was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie.
Prof. Asigbo is currently the Director of UNIZIK Commercial Ventures and a former Dean of the Faculty of Arts, bringing with him a wealth of academic and administrative experience to his new role.
Also, before her election, Prof. Osisioma had served as the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Coordinating) for a period of three months, during which she provided administrative leadership and stability.
Their emergence is expected to further strengthen the academic and administrative structure of the University in line with its commitment to discipline, self-reliance, and excellence.
