The Deputy Executive Secretary (Technical) of the Universal Basic Education Commission, Mr. Razak Olujuwon Akinyemi, has expressed satisfaction with the quality and progress of work at the Bilingual School under construction in Kiru, headquarters of Kiru LGA of Kano State.

A statement released on Monday by the Director, Social Mobilisation, Kano State Universal Basic Education Board, Mr. Balarabe Jazuli, said Akinyemi made the remark when he paid an inspection visit to the school in Kiru on Sunday.

“During the visit, Mr Akinyemi expressed satisfaction with the quality and progress of the work being executed by the contractors handling the project,” the statement said.

According to Jazuli, the inspection visit formed part of the pre-commissioning activities aimed at assessing the buildings, facilities, and other infrastructure provided in the school.

“Preparations for the official commissioning of the school have reached an advanced stage. The inspection visit is part of the commission’s efforts to ensure high standards in its school projects,” the statement said.

He commended the Kano State Government for its continuous supervision and commitment to ensuring that the project was implemented in line with approved standards.

Adeyemi called on community members, parents, and local stakeholders to support and take ownership of the school by safeguarding its structures, facilities, and learning environment.

He emphasised that community involvement is vital to sustaining the school and ensuring that it continues to serve the educational needs of children for generations to come.

Meanwhile, a separate team from UBEC led by Sadiq Sa’id, Director of Physical Planning, also inspected a similar project in Ganduje town, DawakinTofa LGAs of Kano State.

Sa’id also expressed satisfaction with the quality and standard of the project, noting that the level of progress recorded since his last visit to the site two ago is highly commendable.

“The building has now reached the finishing stage, including the execution of external works, which technically signifies that the project is nearing full completion,” he added.

The Islamic Development Bank, the Federal and Kano State Governments jointly funded the construction of the Bilingual Schools as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen basic education.
