In a bid to engage critical stakeholders to pursue holistic and impactful solutions to issues in the education sector, an organisation focused on revolutionalising African education, “Train The Trainer”, TTT, is set to hold the inaugural edition of The Teacher’s Day Summit.
Slated for October 5, 2024, the summit will present an opportunity to recognise, empower, build and equip confident educators committed to elevating African education to global standards, preparing students with the global competencies and skills to thrive in the 21st century and beyond.
Convener of the Summit and Founder, TTT, Dr. Onyekachi Onwudike-Jumbo, said this will become an annual tradition that will shape the future of teaching on the African continent.
She noted that sharing ideas and perspectives is essential to fostering collaborations that can drive real change, and The Teachers Day Summit is for everyone interested in the future of African education, driven by the common goal of raising the quality of education in Africa to the highest level possible.
“We’re calling on all teachers, from early career educators to seasoned professionals. School owners, administrators, policymakers, government bodies, education innovators, and the media should join us.
“Parents, too, have a crucial role to play. If you believe in the power of education to transform lives and societies, this summit is for you. We’re creating a diverse ecosystem of stakeholders, all bound by the goal of elevating African education to world-class standards.”
Onwudike-Jumbo said the summit will ensure that students are prepared to take advantage of key opportunities, and remind educators about the essence of their profession.
“It’s an opportunity to ensure that students are not taught to fit into a box but that they are prepared for the wider work environment and aligned with the future of work expectations and recommendations. It’s an opportunity to remind teachers of the nobility in this profession and encourage them to look beyond the now and passionately follow through the teaching profession,” said Onwudike-Jumbo.
The inaugural Teacher’s Day Summit, she added, will feature a dynamic program including keynote addresses from renowned education experts, interactive workshops, and panel discussions with industry leaders and education experts.
Onwudike-Jumbo hopes the event will lay the foundation for a pan-African movement that will revolutionise education, with teachers at the epicentre.
“The future of the summit is to build a team of well-trained teachers equipped with current trends in education, leading to students who can compete with their peers anywhere in the world.
“We envision the Teacher’s Day Summit becoming the premier event for educational innovation in Africa. We are expanding our reach and looking for avenues to foster international collaborations. We’ll create year-round programmes stemming from the summit, ensuring continuous support for teachers,” she said.
The Founder of JASHConnect, a platform through which she is building a community of passionate Africans thriving and excelling abroad, Onwudike-Jumbo is an Artificial Intelligence Consultant, and the Director of JPAWS, where she continues to train individuals and organisations on professional and academic writing and research practices.
