The Governing Council of the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ogun State, during an emergency meeting on Wednesday, appointed Professor Adekunle Adeogun as the acting Vice-Chancellor of the university.
Adeogun served as the Deputy Vice Chancellor to the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Wole Banjo, whose five-year tenure lapses by November 4, 2025.
According to a Wednesday statement issued by the university’s Registrar, Oladapo Oke, the Professor of Public Health Education will be at the helm of affairs pending the appointment of the substantive Vice-Chancellor.
The appointment will take effect from November 4, 2025.
The outgoing VC, Banjo, on behalf of the entire university community, congratulated the acting Vice-Chancellor and prayed for God’s guidance and benevolence in his new task.
The statement partly reads, “The Governing Council of Tai Solarin Federal University of Education, Ijagun (TASFUED) has announced the appointment of Professor Adekunle Olanrewaju Adeogun as the institution’s Acting Vice-Chancellor.
“The appointment was ratified at a special Council meeting held on Wednesday, 22nd October, 2025.
“Professor Adeogun’s appointment follows the successful completion of the tenure of the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwole Banjo, FWISON, FASN, FAIMP. Until this new role, Prof. Adeogun served as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University.
As a distinguished scholar, Prof. Adeogun is a Professor of Public Health Education with over two decades of lecturing experience.
“He began his academic career at the institution (then Ogun State College of Education) as a Lecturer III on October 1st, 1999. Through dedicated service, he rose through the ranks and was appointed a Professor on October 1st, 2016. He is a prolific researcher with over 50 scholarly publications to his credit.”
According to the statement, Adeogun’s academic qualifications include: a National Certificate of Education (NCE) from the former Ogun State College of Education (1990), a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Port Harcourt (1995), a Master of Education (M.Ed.) from Olabisi Onabanjo University (2003) and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from the University of Ibadan (2008).
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Adisa Bello, also congratulated Adeogun on his new appointment, expressing confidence in his leadership, wishing him success in his new assignment.
