Rotary Club of Edjeba, Delta State, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Carlton, Rotary Foundation and Rotary International District 9141 has renovated a toilet and equipped it with solar powered electricity.

The toilet was renovated to E-Library and presented to Edjeba College Warri in Warri South Local Government Area on Monday.

The governor of the Rotary International District 9141, Chinedu Ikegwuani, while inaugurating the solar-powered library in the school thanked the donors for the gesture stating that Edjeba College, Warri will benefit more if they protect the Library.

He noted that the donation of the Library to Edjeba College, Warri was “in line with the Rotary International 7 areas of focus”, which is basic education and literacy.

The Governor urged the school authority to take proper care of the Library in order to encourage members of the Club to execute more projects in the school.

He also advised the students to take advantage of the books and study hard in order to be successful in their academics.

The Rotary District Governor described the Club as one of the best in the district, noting that he had inaugurated meaningful projects executed by the Club.

Earlier, the President of Rotary Club of Edjeba, Kenneth Okpiahor disclosed that the Club had donated science laboratories and a computer centre for the school but found out that some of the students were not doing well in their academics due to lack of Library, hence the Club decided to provide the Library to improve reading, with assistance from District 9141 and support from International partner, Rotary Club of Carlton and Rotary Foundation.

According to him, over 2,000 books are presently in the Library and the Club is expecting 3,000 more from their International partners.

He further stated that members of the Club are positioned to create lasting change in their mandate communities.

Responding, the principal of the College, Mrs Mayuku who was represented by the Vice Principal (Admin), Mrs Agbateyiniro Onajite appreciated the kind gesture of the rotary clubs to uplift the standard of the school

The Chief inspector of Education, Warri, Dr Samson Ughejieh as well as the Edjeba community representative, Hon. Terence Eriye also commended the Rotary Club of Edjeba for the kind gesture.
