The Management of the National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN, has approved the appointment of Prof. Shehu Adamu and Prof. Christine Ofulue as Deputy Vice-Chancellors (DVCs).
This is contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Director, Media and Publicity, NOUN, Ibrahim Scheme.
The statement said the appointments were conveyed in separate letters of appointment dated Sept. 5, and signed by the Registrar of the university, Mr Oladipo Ajayi.
According to the appointment, Adamu was appointed DVC, Administration, while Ofulue was named DVC, Technology, Innovation and Research (TIR).
The appointments followed their elections by the university’s Senate at its 112th Regular Meeting held on Aug. 28, and subsequent ratification by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council on behalf of the Governing Council.
As DVC (Administration), Adamu is expected to assist the Vice-Chancellor in the day-to-day administration of the university, with emphasis on leadership in administrative governance and institutional management.
Adamu, a former Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences, is a professor in the same faculty.
Also, Ofulue, as DVC (TIR), will support the Vice-Chancellor in driving innovation, research and technology initiatives in line with the university’s strategic goals.
The appointments are for an initial period of two years.
The university management expressed confidence that both appointees would bring their experience and commitment to bear in advancing NOUN’s vision and mission.
