The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation on Nigeria’s digital development.
The ITU Director of the Telecommunication Development Bureau, Dr. Cosmas Luckyson Zavazava, led a delegation to NITDA headquarters in Abuja.
He was accompanied by the ITU Regional Director for Africa, Dr. Emmanuel Manasseh.
The delegation was received by NITDA’s Director of Corporate Planning and Strategy, Dr. Warowei Dimie, on behalf of the Director-General.
Dimie said the partnership with ITU remains critical to achieving Nigeria’s digital transformation goals.
“Digital skills development and capacity building are central to our strategy, especially as we pursue 70 percent digital literacy,” he said.
He added that the National Digital Literacy Framework has strengthened efforts to equip Nigerians with relevant ICT skills.
Dr. Zavazava said ITU remains focused on closing the digital divide and supporting member states.
“Nigeria continues to play a key role in regional and global ICT development initiatives,” he said.
He revealed that Nigeria is among 11 countries benefiting from a €15 million broadband mapping project supported by the European Commission.
Both organisations pledged sustained collaboration to expand digital inclusion and socio-economic growth.
