The Northeast Development Commission (NEDC) in collaboration with the Yobe State Government has commenced training of another batch of teachers to enhance education sector, ravaged by the conflicts and insurgency.
Mohammed Alkali, the Managing Director of NEDC, who was represented by Ali Ibrahim Abbas, the Yobe State Coordinator said the training was held at the Federal College of Education (Technical) Potiskum town, brought together 200 participants across various schools in the Zone.
NEDC said the training is a one-week capacity-building workshop on Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Agriculture (STEMA) and Effective Teaching and Learning pedagogies for school administrators, and teachers across the Yobe South Senatorial District of Yobe State.
He said the objective is to equip educators with innovative strategies that promote problem-solving and practical learning in the classroom.
“We want to enhance teachers’ capacity towards impacting quality knowledge to our students and pupils as NEDC shall continue to complement the efforts of the State Government.” he said.
Also speaking at the event, Abba Idris Adam, Professor and Yobe State Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, commended the NEDC’s initiative and encouraged the participants to embrace modern teaching tools that foster critical thinking, problem-solving and inclusiveness among educators and learners.
The participants expressed appreciation for the initiative as the workshop being managed by Spider Network Consultancy Services continues throughout the week with a series of hands-on sessions and group discussions, aimed at transforming classroom instruction
