The President of The National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) Dr Catherine Atteng, has said that no fewer than 3,000 special education teachers from around the country will attend the organization's 35th annual conference scheduled to take place in Edo State.

According to Atteng, the conference with the theme “Professionalizing Special Needs Educational Services: The Need for Technological-Based skills”, will begin on Monday 3rd June 2024.

It will be held at Imaguero College, Benin City, Edo State.

“The Conference aims to address the budding need for technological-based skills in special needs education, emphasising the importance of professionalising educational services to better cater to students with special needs across the country,” Atteng said.

The Chief host of the conference is His excellency, Governor Godwin Obaseki, The Executive Governor of Edo State. He has been doing a commendable job with special needs education in the state. He will be part of the discussion on how to raise the bar and address the need for technological-based skills in special education.

The event which is expected to attract special education administrators, policymakers and other stakeholders, will be hosted by The Honourable Commissioner for Education, Dr Joan Osa Oviawe.

Prof. Florence Banku Obi, Vice Chancellor of The University of Calabar will deliver the keynote address.
