NerdzFactory Company and Meta have commenced the 2025 edition of the Safe Online Project, extending their reach to over 14,000 participants across Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, and Ekiti.

Speaking on the plan for this year’s edition, themed “Empowering Communities for a Safer Digital Future,” the Head of Policy Programs, Sub Saharan Africa at Meta, Phil Oduor, stressed that the training will help to create a secure online environment and enable skills necessary for youth digital wellbeing.

“Our Safe Online Program which is part of the My Digital World Program, is dedicated to empowering young individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly,” he said.

The founding partner, NerdzFactory Company, Ade Olowojoba emphasised on the importance of digital safety, saying it is pivotal for national development.

“This year’s Safe Online program will deepen our impact by empowering even more young Nigerians to become safe and informed digital citizens,” he said.

He stressed that the initiative was designed to promote digital literacy and safety across the country, adding that it also aimed at equipping citizens with the knowledge and skills to stay safe and responsible in today’s digital world.

“Now in its third year, the Safe Online Project is designed to promote digital safety among young people, educators, parents, and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members,” he said.

The firm’s Programs Supervisor Omozele Umoren outlined the strategy behind the 2025 program, emphasising the inclusion of parents and guardians as key stakeholders in the digital safety ecosystem.

“By engaging students, educators, parents, and communities, we’re creating a ripple effect that extends far beyond the classroom. Our goal is to embed digital safety education into everyday learning, so it becomes second nature to the next generation of Nigerians,” she said.
