Briefing the media on Wednesday on COVID-19 updates, Governor Gandoje re-affirms his administration’s decision to abolish Almajiri system of education in the state. The currently existing Almajiris in the state will be given formal education funded by the state government.
During the media briefing, the governor also confirmed that the state had received over 1000 Almajiris from various neighbouring states of the north.
The state had in the past repatriated over 2000 Almajiris to their northern states of origin after quarantining them for two weeks. The governor stated that the state will continue to repatriate any Almajiri found to have entered the state from other states.
