During press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, May 27, by the presidential Taskforce on COVID-19, the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, declared that the Federal Ministry of Education will soon instruct schools to re-open.  However, this would be based on the guidance of the World Health Organisation and other medical experts.

Dr. Nwajiuba explained that there will be ‘‘classes in the morning and classes in the afternoon so that we will have the whole of the infrastructure divided, provided they can serve us. I am not sure we will have classes at night. But we can do with morning and afternoon for now.”

He stated further that private institutions and lower tiers of government will be instructed on safety measures to take to ensure the safe return of school children to the classroom.
