The Federal Government has launched a cloud server, Electric Quality Assurance Platform for Federal Quality Assurance Services (FEQAS), to enhance education quality in Nigeria.

The platform, a collaboration between the Universal Basic Education Board Commission (UBEC) and the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), aims to modernise the evaluation process.

At the launch in Abuja on Thursday, the Minister of State for Education, Dr Yusuf Sununu, highlighted the significance of the cloud server in assessing learners’ performance.

Sununu, represented by the Director of ICT, Ministry of Education, Abubakar Isah, emphasised the platform’s role in monitoring and evaluating educational institutions’ performance.

“The FEQAS-collect cloud server will revolutionise the operations of the FEQAS department by enhancing data capturing and management, streamlining processes, and improving efficiency.

“It will also facilitate collaboration, networking, and efficient reporting while ensuring scalability and flexibility in department operations.”

Hamid Bobboyi, the Executive Secretary, UBEC, underscored the importance of quality assurance evaluation in basic education.

He noted that the initiative marked a paradigm shift from traditional school inspection to a standards-based, systemic internal and external evaluation process.

Bobboyi highlighted the commission’s commitment to promoting quality basic education delivery, with a focus on the school learning environment and teaching and learning processes.

He emphasised the significance of school quality assurance evaluation for diagnostic, assessment, and remediation purposes.
