The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, has instructed heads of federal government colleges across the country to resume studies on October 11, 2020. The respective colleges were instructed to quickly round off the second term examinations, if they are still pending, and commence third term examinations. The third term exams must be concluded in December.

The school resumption is a relief to the students who have been at home since March on the order of the federal government, as a measure to curtail the spread of coronavirus.

The reopening of federal government colleges has also signaled that the federal government will authorize schools, including tertiary institutions, to reopen very soon.

Covid-19 has affected every sphere of economic activities in the nation and the world at large. The education sector was one of the most hit, as academic activities, particularly the ones that involve physical interaction, were brought to a halt globally. However, in August, schools gradually resumed activities with exit classes returning to school to prepare for their respective examinations.
