NO fewer than 13,993 senior officers in the Federal Public Service on Wednesday sat for the 2024 mandatory confirmation and promotion examination nationwide.

The examination which was a computer-based test was held by the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) in collaboration with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in select CBT centres across the nation.

Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, who spoke with newsmen after monitoring the exercise at the Ansar-ud-deen International School CBT centre, Abuja, noted that there few technical hitches which were promptly resolved for the exercise to go on smoothly.

She noted that under Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan, digitisation is one of the reforms that is going on, emphasizing on the need for workers in public service to be digital literate.

The Head of Service disclosed that her office would come up with a lot of training programmes on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), she believes would equip workers with right skills as the government goes along with the CBT test.

She recalled that the exercise used to be written examination and was recently made computer-based, noting that this would encourage civil servants to take ICT and digitalisation seriously because they need to be IT savvy to pass the test.

She also commended JAMB for the orderly conduct of the examination.

Permanent Secretary, Career Management Office, Fatima Mahmood, told newsmen that the examination was conducted for the officers from Grade Level 7 and above in the Federal Public Service across the nation.

She recalled that similar confirmation and promotion examination was held for junior officers a few weeks ago.

Mahmood noted that apart from initial technical hitches in some centres which were resolved, the examination was orderly and that the officers conducted themselves well from verification to examination proper.
