ESUT Suspends Three Law Students for Two Years over Examination Malpractice

The management of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) has suspended three undergraduates from the Faculty of Law for two academic years due to examination malpractice.

The suspension, which took effect from June 25, 2026, will run until June 24, 2028.

The information was contained in separate memos addressed to the affected students by the university’s registrar, Ambrose Ugwu, on Monday in Enugu.

The affected students, comprising two males and one female, are Isong Ugwu, with registration No. ESUT/2023030212973; Gad Nwosu, registration No. ESUT/2022030203441; and Roseline Nnamani, registration No. ESUT/2024030219772.

Mr Ugwu said the vice-chancellor of the university, Aloysius-Michaels Okolie, acting on behalf of the university senate, approved the recommendations of the Senate examinations malpractice committee.

The registrar directed the affected students to hand over any university property in their possession to their respective heads of department and vacate the university campus immediately.

He added that the sponsors of the affected students and the National Universities Commission (NUC) had been informed of the development.

According to him, the students will be required to apply for readmission upon the expiration of their suspension in June 2028.

Meanwhile, another student of the Faculty of Law, Goodluck Iwuamadi, with registration No. ESUT/2025030227502, was exonerated from an allegation of examination malpractice.

Mr Ugwu said the decision to exonerate Mr Iwuamadi aligned with the recommendation of the Senate examinations malpractice committee.
