The Enugu State Governor, Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, on Sunday, December 21st assured the people of Achi clan in Oji River local government area of delivering on projects that would enhance the economic and infrastructural development of the town.

Governor Mbah gave the assurance at a Civic reception organised in his honour by Achi clan on Sunday, December 21st,2025, within the premises of Achi court.

Governor Mbah assured that the Veterinary School at Achi will be upgraded to a National Diploma and Higher Diploma (HND) awarding institution, producing agro allied technicians who will man the state mechanised agricultural system.

Governor Mbah further assured that the Enugu State College of Health Technology at Oji River will be upgraded to a nursing college with capacity of training nurses and mid wives.

“We are also advancing plans for massive agricultural estates to move our farmers from subsistence to mechanised farming, upgrading the Veterinary School in Achi, and elevating the School of Health Technology to a full Nursing College awarding OND and HND”.

Governor Mbah said Achi clan is an integral part of Enugu state and must be included in all helms of affairs. Governor Mbah said he is a product of equity, fairness and Justice, and he stands to defend that cause in every aspect of his administration.

He stated,” Achi is an integral part of Enugu’s history and identity, and the affection and trust you have shown will never be taken for granted. What we are building in Enugu is anchored on inclusivity, equity, and sustainable development, which is why our projects are deliberately ward-based and grassroots-focused.

He mentioned the Smart Green Schools project and Type -2 Primary Healthcare Centers as some of the on going projects of his administration that are rooted in the nine electoral wards of Achi.

Achi Clan in their articulated request presentation by Dr. Okey Ibeabuchi, pleaded for the upgrading of the Achi Joint Hospital to a Specialist hospital to curtail dearth of accessing adequate Medicare by their People and other surrounding towns and Communities.

The people of Achi also requested for the establishment of a campus of a university or Polytechnic in Achi land, the recognition and operation of four development centers in Oji River local government area, created as far back as 2002, construction of some rural roads, among which are the Ehuhe – Umuabi road.

Achi clan was so delighted that Governor did not attend the Civic reception by proxy but carved time out of his ever-busy schedule to identify with their people.

They promised to give him maximum support for a second term bid.

In his brief opening remarks, the Chairman of Oji River local government area, Mr Greg Anyaegbudike commended Governor Mbah for his developmental strides in the state extended to Achi clan which he also belongs and other communities in Oji River local government area.

He mentioned that the Smart School’s project are progressing in Oji River local government area.

He thanked Governor Mbah for including some sons and daughters of Oji River in his recent appointments and described his visit as historic.

Prominent sons and daughters of Achi clan who turned up for the Civic reception in honour Governor Mbah were Senator Dr.Hyde Onuaguluchi, Most Rev.Dr.Amos Madu, The Bishop of Oji River diocese (Anglican Communion) Rev Dr.Ikechukwu Egbuonu, Hon Barr.Manfred Nzekwe,Mazi Hon.Ezenwa A A.Onyirimba, Dr Eric Oluedo, Hon. Akalusi, Hon.Vin Martin Iloh, Hon.Osita Ezeh, Engr.Hillary Abaratu, among others

Among the Achi Traditional rulers were HRH Igwe Chima Achiekwelu, the Chairman of Oji River traditional rulers council, HRH Igwe Godwin Madu,the Chairman of Enugu West traditional rulers council and HRH Igwe Sunday Orah, the Chairman of Achi Traditional rulers council.
