Ekiti Govt Approves Mass Recruitment Exercise of Primary School Teachers

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the recruitment of teachers into public primary schools to strengthen the state’s basic education sector and improve learning outcomes.

The Chairman of the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board, Prof. Femi Akinwumi, said the approval reflected the administration’s commitment to repositioning basic education for quality service delivery across the state.

Akinwumi said in a statement made available in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday that “the recruitment will be based strictly on consequential vacancies arising from the retirement of teachers over the past few years.

“The exercise is aimed at filling existing gaps in public primary schools to ensure adequate staffing.

“The governor’s approval is a clear demonstration of his commitment to ensuring that our primary schools are adequately staffed with qualified teachers.

“This will not only improve teaching and learning but also guarantee that every child has access to quality basic education.”

The SUBEB chairman said the exercise aligned with the state government’s human capital development agenda and would also create employment opportunities for qualified youths in Ekiti State.

He assured prospective applicants that the recruitment process would be transparent, merit-based, and conducted in accordance with established guidelines.

Akinwumi said candidates would be selected based on their qualifications, competence, and the needs of schools, with priority given to critical subject areas and underserved communities.

He recalled that this would be the second major recruitment of primary school teachers during Oyebanji’s first term in office, following a similar exercise at the inception of the administration.

The Ekiti SUBEB chairman urged interested and qualified applicants to monitor official SUBEB communication channels and other government media platforms for details of the application process and timelines.
