The Honourable Minister of Education, Mr. Adamu Adamu, has on Monday postponed school resumption indefinitely due to high rise in cases of coronavirus in the country. The Minister explained that the date of school resumption will be reviewed in line with the current reality.

The Federal government had earlier announced that schools would reopen on Monday January 18, 2021. Also in a communique issued earlier by the National Universities Commission (NUC), universities were mandated to resume studies on January 18.

Meanwhile, the honourable Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu and the Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, will hold a press briefing on Thursday January 21. We expect that more issues bordering on school resumption and other education matters will be attended to.

As at Tuesday January 12, 2021, Nigeria on issue of Covid-19 pandemic has recorded 101,331 confirmed cases, 19,479 active cases, 1,361 deaths and 80,491 discharged.
