Class54, a Nigerian education technology platform, has launched new artificial intelligence–powered features designed to support students preparing for the 2026 cycle of major secondary school examinations, including the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), WAEC and Post-UTME.

The rollout comes as registration for the 2026 UTME is expected to begin in the coming weeks, a period that typically triggers heightened demand for exam preparation tools among secondary school leavers and their families.

Founded to address gaps in access to quality exam preparation, Class54 says it has supported more than 300,000 students across Nigeria through mobile-based practice tests, offline learning resources and online instruction. The latest update expands the platform’s use of AI to deepen learning outcomes while remaining accessible to students with limited internet connectivity.

At the centre of the update is an AI-powered explanation feature that provides step-by-step reasoning for exam questions, particularly in numerate subjects such as Mathematics and Physics. Unlike traditional practice apps that focus on final answers, the system breaks down how solutions are derived, a design the company says is intended to strengthen conceptual understanding and reduce rote learning.

Class54 has also introduced live online lessons, enabling students to join real-time virtual classes led by subject instructors. The sessions are structured around syllabus coverage and examination strategies, with interactive elements aimed at replicating classroom engagement in a digital environment.

According to Oluwasegun Ige, chief technology officer at Class54, the technical challenge was delivering advanced features without sacrificing usability on low-end devices or high data costs.

“Delivering AI-powered explanations and live lessons in a lightweight mobile environment required careful optimisation,” Ige said. “Our priority was to ensure the platform remains usable even with limited data access, while preserving strong offline functionality.”

The platform continues to offer full offline access to more than 25 years of past JAMB and WAEC questions, alongside a voice-enabled assistant that reads examination literature and summaries aloud—features targeted at students in areas with unstable internet access.

Class54 operates a single subscription model that covers preparation for JAMB, WAEC and Post-UTME, a structure the company says is aimed at reducing the financial burden on students who often rely on multiple exam preparation tools.

With Nigeria’s examination season increasingly shaped by digital learning solutions, Class54 says the latest update is intended to complement, rather than replace, traditional study methods as students prepare for the 2026 exams. The mobile application is available on Android and iOS platforms.
