As part of efforts aimed at rethinking the nation’s media landscape, the management of Caleb University Imota Lagos, in partnership with the Nigeria Institute of Journalism (NIJ), the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria (NPAN), and the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) are organising a Journalism Outlook Conference.

Themed, ‘Reinventing local newspapers in the digital age: Innovation, sustainability, and global community impact,’ Caleb University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olalekan Asikhia, noted the goal was to provide a robust platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and actionable insights that will strengthen the sustainability of the nation’s journalism.

To him, “we are privileged to welcome as the main facilitator Kirsten Marie Myklebust, a distinguished Norwegian journalist and media leader. Myklebust has served as editor of Jærbladet from 2018 to 2023 and is currently a project leader on newspaper digitalization. Her expertise in digital product development and content strategy, gained through her work with leading firms such as Amedia, Schibsted, and Equinor, will enrich our discourse with valuable international perspectives.”

Disclosing the event is scheduled to hold on July 20, 2026, at Caleb University, Imota, Lagos, the don also called for efficient information flow to address insecurity.

In addition, he said, “on July 21, 2026, at the Marriott Hotel, Lagos, Caleb University will convene Chief Human Resource Officers, HR Directors, HR Leaders, CEOs, and industry leaders from across Nigeria and beyond for a transformative discourse under the theme: “Reimagining HR for Business Resilience and Growth: Leading Nigeria’s Workforce Through Disruption and Innovation.”

He stated that the conference would be chaired by Alh. Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, Minister of Labour and Employment, with Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Executive Governor of Lagos State, gracing the event as Special Guest of Honour.’
