British Airways has donated laptops to beneficiaries of the IA-Foundation, a United Kingdom-registered non-governmental organisation committed to returning out-of-school children in Nigeria to quality education, in a move aimed at enhancing digital learning opportunities for vulnerable children.

The laptops were presented during a handover ceremony in Lagos, attended by representatives of British Airways, officials of the IA-Foundation, and the beneficiaries. 

The donation is expected to improve access to technology and equip the children with digital skills essential for learning in today’s technology-driven world.

Chairman of the IA-Foundation, Mr. Diran Famakinwa, received the laptops on behalf of the organisation alongside members of staff and the beneficiaries.

British Airways was represented at the event by its Account Managers, Lady Peju Diya and Mr. Bodunrin, as well as the airline’s Administration Manager, Mr. Matthew Akano.

Speaking at the event, IA-Foundation Programme Manager, Ms. Ope Adedara, expressed appreciation to British Airways for supporting the foundation’s mission.

She described the donation as a timely intervention that would strengthen ongoing efforts to provide beneficiaries with the tools needed to succeed academically and thrive in an increasingly digital world.

Founder of the IA-Foundation, Mrs. Ibironke Adeagbo, said the donation reflects growing corporate recognition of the need to bridge the digital divide and improve educational opportunities for Nigerian children.

She noted that addressing Nigeria’s out-of-school children crisis is a collective responsibility and urged greater collaboration from the private sector and the public.

According to the foundation, the laptops will be deployed in the coming weeks to support the children’s learning, research and overall educational development.

The IA-Foundation reiterated its appeal to individuals, corporate organisations and well-meaning Nigerians to support its mission of returning out-of-school children to quality education.

The foundation recently unveiled a white paper highlighting the long-term social and economic consequences of failing to educate children. 

It also launched the IA-Portal, a digital platform that enables members of the public to identify and sponsor out-of-school children.
