The Anambra State government has announced plans to build an additional 30 primary schools across communities, following a report highlighting areas lacking public primary and secondary schools.

The announcement follows Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s landslide re-election on November 8, 2025, in which he won in all 21 local government areas of Anambra State.

According to a press statement released on Thursday, the state Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, said the project and other key decisions were made during the 22nd Anambra State Executive Council meeting, held at the “Light House” in Awka on Wednesday.

Mefor said several important decisions were taken during the meeting, including an assessment of the Saturday, November 8, 2025, governorship election, in which Soludo was re-elected.

He noted that Soludo’s extraordinary 73 percent victory across all 21 local government areas in the state is evidence that electoral success stems from delivering value and development to the people.

The statement read in part: “The following significant decisions were made at the 22nd Anambra State Executive Council meeting, held on November 12, 2025, at Light House, Awka.

“The November 8 governorship election served as a hypothesis test. The Council examined the election, in which Prof. Chukwuma Soludo was decisively re-elected with 73 percent of the vote, winning in all 21 local government areas. The Council stated that this outcome proves the hypothesis that electoral success results from providing value and development to the people.

“The Council committed to rededicate themselves to duty and to finish strong, while expressing gratitude to Ndi Anambra for their faith in Soludo and for their excellent conduct before, during, and after the election. The Council adopted the 2026–2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework, paving the way for the 2026 Annual Budget to be presented to the Anambra State House of Assembly, ensuring that the 2026 Appropriations Bill is assented to by December 31, 2026, at the latest.

“The Council also agreed to build an additional 30 new primary schools across communities, following a report of areas lacking public primary and secondary schools. This initiative will deepen the impact of the education programmes of the Solution Government and ensure that every community benefits from the Soludo administration’s free education policy.”

Press had reported on September 16 that the Anambra State Government awarded contracts worth about ₦43.7 billion for road, power, school, and other infrastructural projects aimed at improving citizens’ lives across the state.

Mefor said the projects were approved, and other significant decisions were made during the 19th Anambra State Executive Council meeting at the Light House, Awka.

He added that several key decisions were taken, including the determination that no new project would be executed merely because of the forthcoming election.

He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to awarding projects based on strategic and economic significance, and prioritising areas with the greatest need, adding that no new project would be initiated solely for the election season, as was customary in the past.
