Anambra Commences Statewide Distribution of Learning Materials to Basic Schools

 

Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) has commenced distribution of learning materials to basic education schools across the state.

The materials, including exercise books, textbooks, statutory materials, interactive digital boards, charts, school bags, marine craft, sports equipment and others, were made available by UBEC, Abuja, in collaboration with ASUBEB.

Executive Chairman of ASUBEB, Dr Justina Anyadiegwu said the initiative was part of efforts to boost transformative initiatives of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the education sector.

She added that the move was a bold statement of the current administration’s unwavering commitment to the future of school children in the state.

“The advancement of quality basic education in Anambra State was made possible by the governor’s visionary leadership.

“The intervention is another strategic step towards strengthening teaching and learning outcomes in schools in the state.

Appreciating the governor for his visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to education, Anyadiegwu also applauded UBEC for its sustained partnership, support and commitment to improving basic education delivery in Nigeria.

“The intervention, through the provision of quality textbooks, instructional materials and essential learning resources, is another strategic step towards strengthening teaching and learning outcomes in Anambra schools.

“Beyond infrastructure and learning materials, the current administration is laying the foundation for smart schools, smart teachers and smart learners equipped with the knowledge, skills and values required for the 21st century,” she added.

Representative of UBEC, Kingsley Nlewedim, reaffirmed the agency’s unwavering commitment to the advancement of basic education in Nigeria.

Nlewedim said the learning materials being distributed were directly supplied by UBEC as part of its continuous support for basic education development in Anambra State and were expected to enhance teaching and learning, improve classroom comfort and encourage sporting activities.

In their various remarks, Chairman, Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Education, Anayo Okpalaeke, and Commissioner for Education, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr Ebele Agbaizu, said the occasion represented a significant milestone in their collective resolve to strengthen basic education in the state.

They described Anambra as key partner of UBEC, noting that the government is intentional in its policies and believes education is the foundation for the growth and development of pupils and students receiving the learning materials.

One of the beneficiaries, Miss Precious Jackson from Udeozor Memorial Primary School, Awka, thanked the governor for his intervention in the lives of school children in the state.
