AI-Powered Learning Programme Begins in Akwa Ibom Schools

Akwa Ibom State has launched an AI powered basic education reform programme to strengthen teaching and learning in public primary schools.

The initiative aligns with ARISE Agenda, the state’s framework prioritising education as a driver of human capital development. Technology will be deployed to support teachers and improve foundational literacy and numeracy among pupils.

The programme is implemented by EIDU with Ministry of Education. It introduces a data-driven and AI-enabled approach to instruction, providing teachers structured lesson guides and pupils personalised learning activities.

The first phase will reach 6,000 pupils in 67 primary schools this session. Teachers, school leaders and education managers will access real-time data to track learning progress and identify gaps early.

The State Commissioner for Education, Professor Ubong Essien Umoh, commended the initiative and described it as a major step towards strengthening the quality of basic education in the state.

The initiative reflects the vision of Governor Umo Bassey Eno, whose administration has continued to emphasise the importance of strengthening foundational education as part of the ARISE Agenda.

EIDU partners with governments across four countries to improve foundational learning outcomes through its AI-enabled teaching model, currently reaching more than 790,000 children in underserved communities.
