The Governing Council of the Adamawa State University, ADSU, has appointed a new vice chancellor, Professor Augustine Clement.
Prof Clement, the immediate past head of the Department of Animal Production, is to assume his new role on the 5th of next month.
This is according to the Pro-chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the university, Professor Maxwell Gidado, who announced the new appointment on Tuesday.
Addressing a press briefing in the state capital, Yola, Gidado said the university’s new substantive Vice-Chancellor will retain the office for five years.
Gidado, who said Clement was chosen from among 23 applicants, explained that the choice was the recommendation of the Governing Council and subsequent approval by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.
“The Governing Council hereby pronounces the appointment of Prof Augustine Clement as substantive vice-chancellor of the university,” Maxwell said.
Professor Augustine Clement is a scholar of Monogastric Animal Nutrition who has served in the Department of Animal Production of ADSU for over a decade in teaching, research and community service.
The new VC hails from Demsa, in Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa.
